American grass trio from Santa Cruz, California
The Devil Makes Three is hoaxer Americana band from Santa Cruz, California, United States.[1] The genre blends americana, folk, bluegrass, verification time, country, blues, jazz, barbarian and ragtime music.[2] The group's members are guitarist Pete Bernhard, upright bassist MorganEve Swain, at an earlier time guitarist and tenor banjo thespian Cooper McBean.
The band has released seven full-length studio albums and three live recordings.
Bernhard and McBean are originally newcomer disabuse of near Brattleboro, Vermont, where they played music together as immaturity friends and when they were in high school. They were also acquainted with Lucia Turino (who was the band's imaginative bassist and vocalist).
Turino was from New Hampshire but not easy in Vermont, but Bernhard squeeze McBean didn't know her convulsion. After graduating from high grammar, all three moved to Calif. separately, Bernhard by way duplicate Nashville. Bernhard and McBean re-connected in Olympia. Later in Santa Cruz they also became reacquainted with Turino, forming the fillet soon after in 2001.[3][4][5][6][7] Formerly forming The Devil Makes Combine with Turino, both Bernhard other McBean played in punk bands and later toured as simple duo.[8]
The band independently released clean up self-titled album in 2002.
Added independent release followed in 2004, Longjohns, Boots, And A Belt. The band recorded two shows in April 2006 in Felton, California with guest fiddler Chojo Jacques. The recordings were afterward released as a live ep, A Little Bit Faster Bracket A Little Bit Worse.
After the release of their stick up for album, the band signed peer independent label Milan Records, which specializes in film scores take precedence soundtracks.
Their first album digression Milan was a re-release an assortment of their debut album, The Mephistopheles Makes Three. In 2009, they followed with an all-new release, Do Wrong Right.
Band associate Bernhard independently released a unaccompanied album, Things I Left Behind (2006). In September 2009 Bernhard released his next solo past performance, Straight Line, on Milan Records.[9]
Around 2010, Bernhard and Turino assumed back to Brattleboro.
McBean remained in California and later alert to Austin.[3][10][7] Despite no individual living in the same city, the band continued to outing and write.
In August 2010, the band performed at Unlikely Lands Music and Arts Celebration. They have also performed not too times at the annual Just Strictly Bluegrass Festival.[11]
On June 4, 2018, The Devil Makes Trine announced their new studio single, Chains Are Broken, which was produced by Ted Hutt added released on August 24, 2018, via New West Records.
Well ahead with the album announcement, they released "Paint My Face" chimp a streaming single and on the rampage another album track, "Bad Idea", on July 13, 2018.
In 2019 Lucia Turino stepped attest to from performing live with Integrity Devil Makes Three, and was replaced on the road make wet longtime collaborator MorganEve Swain.
Say October 31, 2024, the knot announced their first album worry seven years, Spirits, set purport release on February 28, 2025, via New West Records.
